Security and privacy
How your information is protected
Your privacy is our priority. Below is what protects you and your information, explained in plain language without the technical jargon.
Your phone number stays with you
Whoever scans the QR can't see who you are, your phone, your name, or your address. They just pick one of the ready-made alerts and send it.
Only the real app can connect
Only the official CarQR app can reach your information. Copied or modified apps are blocked.
Bot and spam protection
Whoever sends an alert passes a quick 'I'm not a robot' check, and repeated sends are limited automatically. No one can flood you with fake alerts.
The layers that protect you
- 1
Your number is never shown
Your phone number appears neither on the scan page nor in the notification you receive. The QR only carries a secure link with no personal data inside.
- 2
Only the real app has access
Only the official CarQR app can reach your data. A copied or tampered app is rejected.
- 3
Spam and abuse are blocked
Every alert goes through a security check, and frequent repeats are limited automatically. Bulk, malicious sends never reach you.
- 4
Your QR can't be guessed
Each QR has a unique link that is practically impossible to guess. Someone else's QR can't be mixed up with yours.
- 5
Deleting your account stops the QR
When you delete your account, your QR is turned off. The old sticker stops sending alerts to anyone, and your data is removed.
- 6
Notifications carry no personal data
The notification you get only contains the alert type and which car it's about. Phone, email, plate, and address are never added to it.
Your rights
See your data
You can request a copy of the data on your account whenever you want.
Delete your account
In the app, go to Settings and use 'Delete account' to permanently remove your account and all your data.
Change your preferences
You can update your cookie preferences on the website any time. The app uses no third-party tracking.
CarQR is not an emergency service. Notification delivery can be delayed by device settings, OS battery rules, network conditions, or third-party outages. Always call local emergency services first for urgent situations.
